April 22-28th

Howdy Friends, This is a long one folks. Ethan is being stretched on the home stretch. :) Since he has a Thai companion he probably enjoyed speaking English for a bit, even if it was just into his phone. :) I'm being stretched with these Thai words I can't spell. Hahahaha!  It's funny to hear him struggle to find the English translation for what he wants to say sometimes, he'll mumble things like, how do you say that in English?? And then after a minute he'll say, oh yeah! Thanks to all of you who support him! Hello Everyone, The weeks are flying by, kind of. I'm really tired this week. Last p-day we got up and played some basketball with a member who is the EQ president and he's way cool and his English is way good. He's an English tutor and he's a really good baller. He plays at the park all the time. It was really fun. Then we had some breakfast, went over to the computer lab for a little bit, had  lunch and then came home. We did some laundry an...

April 15th-21st

Hello Everybody! This is week April 15th to April 21st. This includes the rest of our water festival, Songkran. Monday we got up and it wasn't like a normal p day. We didn't go to the computer lab or anything because we were too busy having too much fun. We spent the morning emailing (from our phones) and there was some time where my phone broke and I was afraid that it would be forever gone. But somehow around 11 o'clock it came back up so we were good to go. We went to a member's house and we played some Songkran, which really just means participating in the nation wide water fight. We used her hose, filled up a bunch of buckets and just soaked the people that were driving motorcycles and cars, not really cars because the windows were closed, but motorcycles on the way past her house... just soaked people, it was way fun. At one point there was this old British man that was going by. At first I didn't hear him. So as he was driving by and I was getting ready to s...

April 8-14

A little info about this letter. 1) I have no idea how to spell any of the names he says in his voice memos... sound it out... sorry about that. :) 2) In Thailand they watch General Conference a week behind the live broadcast but this year the week behind fell over Songkran (a big National Holiday- 3 days worth) which made it crazy. He sounds like a kid in a candy store when he talks about the buckets of water they threw around. :) I'm all caught up until tomorrow! Transfers were last week and Ethan has been transferred to Ubon. They have whitewashed the area and he is training again. Dear Everyone, It's the week of April 8th to April 14th. Last Monday we had a shortened p day because of the water festival that was happening here this weekend. So all we did was get up and go to the computer lab, register for classes and get stuff ready for the next week. Then we headed over to an investigator's house and he cut our hair for free which was way nice of him. After that we got...

individual righteousness!

Hello Everyone, April 1st to the 7th! For p day last week we went on a hike with the other elders to go see a waterfall and the waterfall was cool except there is no water because it's the dry season. We ate a buffet lunch together and went home. That evening we tried to visit a bunch of people and they weren't all there, but there was an RC and she was doing okay. After that we tried to find our family again because we figured out that the owner of their previous apartment might know where they had moved to but it turns out he doesn't know anything so they're officially just gone. There's no way we can contact them unless they come to church. Tuesday we studied in the morning, had district meeting and then we went and worked the rest of the afternoon. We met with a member who gave us a referral and we taught another way fire investigator before English class. That was kind of all of that day, not very much happened. On Wednesday, we went inviting in the morning an...

March 25-31st: Dropping, finding and all of the above

Hello Everyone! This week was a wild week. Let's just get right into it. Monday we got up and were a bit lazy in the morning. We got over to the track eventually and decided it was too smokey go running. Instead we went to the computer shop and emailed. Then we came home, got some lunch, checked out a waterfall. The would have been a lot cooler except it was really dry and so there wasn't really much water. After that we came home. Elder Ferrence had a lot of emails to catch up on. That evening we went to this lady's place(she's a previous investigator that worked with some other elders) hoping could get some soup. We thought we'd be able to talk to her and it turns out she doesn't sell in the evening, which was a big bummer cause it's a long way to go out there. Then we headed over to this family that we've been teaching that I've talked a little bit about for awhile. They weren't there, but the members that had previously helped us teach them ...

it was the best of times, it was the worst of times

Hello Everyone, Monday was zone conference and it was not expected to take very long. We had a training that was supposed to last about two or three hours in the morning where we would teach about how to teach a good first lesson and how to keep our investigators in the loop. It ended up taking until about two or three o'clock. When it was over we cleaned up, did some quick studies and headed over to Bro Munn's house. He is doing okay. We mostly just talked to his wife because he didn't come out to talk to us because he was asleep, sad day. Then we went to see our other investigators, JohnWong and Gail and they are doing way good. They're the family that we've been teaching. They're just so good. The wife has really opened up, she's way comfortable talking to us now, which is really cool. We finished the night inviting at a mall. In the morning on Tuesday we went and visited an alcoholic investigator. Then we tried to go and see another potential investigat...

March 11-17

Hey Everyone, Last Monday we ran around in the morning and by running, I mean literally we ran. We did our exercise and then we had to go to the hospital because Elder Ferrence has rabies shots to go do. After the rabies shots appointment, we went to the computer lab and emailed and stuff. And then after that we went home and changed and went and got some Mexican food for lunch. But I didn't have any money because I lost my ATM card, so I had nothing for lunch that day. I am cheap and I lost my ATM card and I was already in debt to Elder Ferrence for paying for all the meals before that. I ended up paying Elder Ferrence like 1,700 baht because he had paid for a lot of stuff for me, like food. Anyways, after that we went to Bro. Munn's house and visited with him and talked about Joseph Smith and that kind of stuff. And we ended up walking around and talking to people and inviting for the rest of that evening. Tuesday we planned on meeting with Bank in the morning, our dater. Bu...

Mar 4-10

Dear Friends and Family, I do believe we are all caught up. :) If you know Ethan well, you know he doesn't love really long conversations or meetings that go too long. It seems like he had several of those this week. :) Hello Everyone, Monday was not p day because it's transfer week. In the morning we went and visited some RCs who are a couple that a friend of mine, Elder Jorgensen baptized. They were a referral from their daughter who was baptized in Japan and we went over there kind of unannounced, but they were already awake so it was okay. We went and talked to them for a long time. They just kept talking. It was a long appointment. After that we got a lot of bills paid because we had some bills that were due, got some mail sent in with some baptismal records that are important, and then we made our way over to a mall where we met with an RC and his friend who we're teaching. That was also very, very, very long but it was okay. After that we got home and did our person...
