June 3-9

Hello Everyone,

Monday was a interesting p-day just because we didn't really do a lot.We got up in the morning, used some time to send emails and then we went over to the other elders house that we're supposed to close and we cleaned it up and cleared all this stuff out of it. We got the beds and some other stuff out of there, it was crazy and fun. Exciting. Then we got some lunch and went to Central, the big mall out here, bought some stuff and got some ice cream with the sisters. And then we came back to the house and got ready. And that was pretty much everything that happened that day. A big long day of cleaning up the house. But it was fun. That evening we had a YSA fireside, FHE kind of deal. We all went to this big ice cream shop and shared some thoughts together and it was actually way, way good. The elder's quorum present here, Bro. Bank, is super awesome. He did a good job. It was a good activity. Fun.

Tuesday we got up and went to visit an investigator named Thea, he's this super drunk guy. He's a rice farmer and he's just grand and super funny. We are trying to teach his uncle because that's the guy we met at first and he told us where his uncle's field is and so we talked to him for a little bit and then we left to go find the uncle and just could not find the uncle. We went back to the house to do some studies and eat some lunch with the district. We had our district meeting which went way long because we were talking about all the things we want to plan for this next transfer and how we're going to make it a grand transfer and help the ward. Then we finished our studies and headed out. We taught an old lady who has been an investigator for awhile now. I think she had been dropped for a little bit because there was no way to contact her but we picked her up again and started teaching her and she's funny. She likes reading the Book of Mormon and talking. After that we ran around trying to find another drunk guy that we are trying to teach but we're probably going to drop him to soon because we can never meet with him. We had English class and it was way fun. I enjoyed it. I kind of winged the whole thing but it was actually really good.

Wednesday we got up in the morning and went to work at a little farm/gardening place to help this one lady. She's actually a city person. She was born in Ubon, here in the country, but she worked in Bangkok for most of her life and had never done any farming. So she came back and she wanted to have a big ol' garden and so that's what she did. We helped her in her garden a little bit. Then we got cleaned up, did our studies, got some lunch with the other elders and taught English at the hospital. After English we went inviting  for two hours. We had less students at English than we expected and so I actually just hung out in the background a lot of it.
We did more inviting, trying to find this old grandpa guy, but couldn't find him. Apparently he moved. His grandkids were like, well, he's just here down this street and you find the coconut tree and you turn left. And so we tried to find him there but there's no way we're going to find this guy. We couldn't find him. We came back to the church to meet with a member who pitnotted (I think this word basically means cancelled, but more last minute)  on us, so then we invited. We had dinner and then tried to find another member who's a little bit less active, but he was not available to meet. We did more inviting and that was the night.

Thursday, we went over to Sis. Tepe's ran with her noodles. It was a really good lesson. I could really feel some love coming from Elder Milang and I was like, wow, things are really happening. It's starting to look really good and I think she felt it too because she was like, I want you to say a closing prayer because you said some really good things today. The rest of the day was frustrating. We did weekly planning and studies and lots of inviting. We had a pidnot then we met with a member with a member before English class. He's been a member for awhile, but it sounds like he's just not been very active since the very beginning. He has a solid understanding of gospel principles but doesn't really go to church anymore. English class was really fun. We combined classes since there wasn't very many people that came and we had some dinner after that, good times.

Friday we got up, went over to an LA's house, she wasn't there, so we went inviting for awhile. Lots of inviting and lots of looking for people. We spent a long time, probably like an hour and a half running around this little neighborhood because in Thailand they didn't number the streets or the house numbers in order. So we were running around trying to find this house number and we asked the guy that's in charge of the neighborhood where this house is? He told us a different thing every time we asked and we just run around getting nowhere, no luck. Do we show you? We gave up looking for him and tried another guy, couldn't find him using his address either. Same deal. It was a long day. Finally we get over to this old lady's house at five to teach her. I was pretty tired by then. After that we had dinner and then it was sports night. We're trying to get sports night to start being a thing so it can be a good inviting event for missionaries, less actives or investigators. We went and my companion played volleyball. I made some phone calls to try and get some appointments. And really, I just got a whole lot of nothing. I never ended up making an appointment because no one wanted to meet with the missionaries or they didn't pick up. We went inviting at a park for a little bit after an unsuccessful attempt to find a less active member at his house. Also we had to walk home that night because my companions bike did not work as we wanted it to. The pedal fell off. That was the night.

Saturday morning we get up and try to find a nut for his bike. We spent an hour in the morning trying to find a shop with a nut to fix this bike. Finally we find it and fix it. Our first appointment was with a guy who referred his uncle to us and we couldn't find the uncle earlier this week. He said it's weird that we couldn't find him so he gave us the directions to his uncle's house. There directions were like, you just go straight along this road, don't turn, you'll pass four trees on your left, and then you'll turn in that little road there, something like that. We tried and we just couldn't find him. We left to go to another appointment and by the time we get to this other guy's house  my companion's bike breaks again. That was not good. We coasted on our bikes and pushed along with our feet, since he couldn't pedal, and saw a bike shop. They "fix" it. We went to our lunch appointment with a really great member and the bike breaks again. We went back to the church to do some studies and then I practiced piano for Sunday because I played piano again. My companion cleaned the church while I practiced piano. We left to meet with a PI who seems pretty cool, but he wasn't free. We invited for a little bit and came back to the church meet with a recent convert whom I love, Poom. He's just his own guy. I love him. After that we had this huge, huge pidnot from a strong member family with a less active dad. We had an appointment to visit with them and their house is way far out there. When we made the appointment we planned in some travel time to get all the way out there and then they pidnotted on us. They're like, we're not free. That opened up a bunch of time in our day. It was actually okay though I guess because we needed to plan for the fireside the missionaries would do on Sunday. We ended up doing our companionship study with four other missionaries getting this fireside ready to go and getting some dinner. On the way home Elder Smith and I rode my bike home together because the other elders didn't have their bikes with them.

Sunday we went to the church and first thing I practiced piano to get ready for sacrament meeting, it was good. We had a baptism! Then lunch and then we had our fireside about missionary work and how we can get the members excited about being missionaries. It was fun and when we got home and I was super tired. We did some studies, fixed Elder Milang's bike and left to visit and LA. Then we visited a recent convert's mom at her house and did little bit of inviting. We walked a long time because the bike broke again. We talked with a recent convert who was selling in a market next to our house on a Sunday, which was not very good. We didn't really address that, but we encouraged him to be ready for the temple. He thinks he's all ready for the temple even though he still smokes and drinks. We've got to help him with that. And that was the night.

My spiritual thought for this week comes from Luke 7:12-15. Something that I've learned and I try to emulate but I'm not very good at is the Savior's unconditional love for everybody. He really just does not limit his love based on what we do or what we say. It's always just there as in this example. He heals the widow's son and then walks away and that's it. I think that's the same for our lives sometimes. There are things he just does that we don't have to qualify for. That's the miracle of this entire gospel and everything that we are here for. That's a wrap for today over and out, Elder Ellsworth
