Elder Ellsworth is working hard, having fun and getting caught up with his letters. :)
Hello Everybody! This was a great week in Chiang Mai once again. For p-day today we went to the art museum on the South side of town, which was really fun cause there's a lot of illusionary art that we looked at and took pictures in and it was a ton of fun. We also got some food for breakfast and some time to email as well, all good stuff. After that we had planned to go and visit an RC and some of his friends but they were not available so we met a different investigator and she's pretty awesome; she has a lot of questions about what we're doing. Then we went and visited another investigator that had to go to work and then he texted us the next day and said he quit his job because he doesn't want to work anymore.
Tuesday in the morning, we spent some time at the local college running around and inviting people and talking to people. It was a lot of talking in the morning, fun stuff. Then we got some lunch, did our studies and went to district meeting. We tried to teach some other people but they were not available and so we kind of just ended up doing some more finding and phone calls. We had English class which was way fun and that began our switch off. Elder Thomas and I, who I was switching with, we taught the kid we were supposed to teach on Monday. His name is Ball and he's way, way cool. He's got some good potential.
On Wednesday we had intended to go inviting in the morning, but we got to the park where we would invite and realized that we forgot our baptismal record. So we had to go back all the way to the house, get the record and then we didn't have time to invite anymore. So we went and visited an RC and taught him and his friend. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for us to get the record filled out for their RC but it was okay. After that we went to another potential investigator appointment and he was way cool. Unfortunately, we were sitting there teaching him and there's this car accident right behind us. And so we ran over and looked at it and tried to help, but there really wasn't much we could do. People showed up pretty quick to help out. And then we got some lunch and then taught some RC's. They're coming to church this week so that's way good. After that we did our studies and some inviting and got some dinner. And also got over to the RC again later that day because we didn't do it in the morning and we got his baptismal record filled out finally and correctly. Then we got over to the park and found some more PI's, taught all of them and they're way cool. Later we got some dinner, taught a couple of investigators and had our switch off review. Good Times.
Thursday we went to see an RC. We met with her and served her sister by making flower necklaces that she makes. We did our studies, got some lunch and did weekly planning. Then we had some inviting time, but it turns out we actually taught some people instead. We found some cool people, got some dinner and all that good stuff. Dinner was actually really fun because we went to an investigator's house and it was his son's birthday and so we had kind of a birthday party. It was pretty fun. A lot of members showed up and supported them as well. So it was awesome. His wife is a recent convert.
On Friday it was our switch off with Phitsanoluk, which was very good. But then it kind of went downhill after awhile. So we went and taught an investigator, our old man investigator and had to drop him due to Alzheimer's because he really wasn't remembering anything we taught him. And then we tried to teach an RC and his friend, but neither of them were at home and so we ended up inviting for awhile and we found some cool people that we are going to come back and visit. So that was way cool. And then we had lunch at a member's restaurant, which is really good.
We had a potential investigator appointment fall through and we had intended to go to a book fair and do some inviting and teaching. But it turns out that there wasn't very many people there and the guy we wanted to teach wasn't there either, sad day. So we went to the bus stop to make sure that they had tickets to get back home that night and that's when things kind of fell apart. We got to the bus station and at that point it was probably 5:30 or 6:00 pm. We get there and Elder Davidson's bike breaks, that we had rented in this morning, so he cannot ride it anymore. We're sitting in the bus station and we also find out that the latest bus that's going back to his area leaves that night at about 8:00 pm and they'd planned on leaving in the middle of the night. So we had to change some plans. So what ended up happening was Elder Davidson and I had to rent a pick up truck to take us back into the city and then meet up with the other elders, get some dinner, have a switch off review and they left. Elder Ferrence and I then had an hour and a half left in the evening where we just went and visited this LA family that Elder Davidson and I did not get a chance to go and visit. They're way cool. They just need to start coming back to the church is the thing.
On Saturday, we headed over to the hospital in the morning to go and visit an investigator and his mom in the hospital, since she's got some problems with her appendix and she had surgery. After that we had interviews with president, which took a little bit, and we didn't really have a super good planned out day, but one way or another we were hardworking and studied and taught a bunch of people. It was a good day. I don't remember exactly what happened because it was a long time ago. :) On Sunday, that next day, we went to church, had a couple of hit-nots after church, which means we didn't meet with people. So really what happened was we went to church, had some lunch, did our personal study, and then made a lot of phone calls and invited for the rest of the evening until about seven o'clock when we got on a bus to go to Chiang Rai so that we could switch off for that next week.
Alma 37:6
6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
I feel very strongly about this verse and how it relates to obedience. I think the battle is 100% won in the little things we do everyday and as we are obedient and show the lord we are willing to do what he asks us to do, we can see miracles. But we need to show him how committed we are to him!! Can't ever give in early. I know Christ is at the head of this work.
