Hello everybody!
This week was another great one in the giant city of Bangkok! We measured it the other day and from one end to the other, is about the equivalent of Pasco Washington to Hermiston Oregon. Or from Hayden Idaho (where my companion is from) to Spokane Washington. That's a long way!
Monday was a way fun day! We spent the whole day running around this giant museum place called ancient city. It has scales of all the coolest wats in Thailand. (วัด) so we got some way cool pics snd got to bike all around the park. It was way fun! After that, we grabbed some dinner after a way crazy bus ride home and visited a little Cambodian LA family before we headed back to the house for the night.
Tuesday was a pretty relaxing day. Not way crazy busy, just the usual district meeting in the afternoon and English class. The usual good stuffs. In the afternoon after out meeting we went s taught a super prepared super awesome lady named จำรุล (Jamrun) she is so awesome! The only problem is she is the oldest kid and so she leaves Bangkok every weekend to go and take care of her mom. Who likes to go to วัดs. This last week จำรุล tried to convince her mom to try out the church instead but the mom was pretty stubborn... :/ so we will continue to work with her on that I suppose. Then we unsuccessfully tried to find an investigator, and taught a part member family before we had English class. It was pretty good. English class is usually pretty darn fun.
Wednesday, we studied in the morning, and then tried to visit an LA but they were not home... :( and so we talked with the neighbors but they were only too happy to show us the quickest way out of the place. Literally after everything we said they would say, yeah so the fastest best way out if here is this path here. I'll show you. C'mon, right here. 555 it was funny. Then we couldn't find a taxi and so we walked a long way to out next appointment for lunch. KFC for the win! After that, we successfully found the investigator we were looking for yesterday. The rest of the night was spent running around town looking for people and finding nothing but appointments falling through. Meeting crazy high people at night that want to talk with white people is always an adventure however.
Thursday, we had such a fire lesson with our investigator ปลื้ม. She is sooooo cool! We taught about the gospel, and committed her to baptism and she said no because she feels like a month of learning is not enough time to change her entire life. Which won my respect because she clearly understands how important and life changing baptism is. So we asked her to pray about it some more and we would keep meeting with her and helping her. After that, we met with แกว who is so awesome. He just wants to take some things slow. He's smoking less every week, but by like one cigarette. We need to help him with some motivation. After that, we studied and weekly planned, grabbed dinner, did some drop bys with some LAs, and then met with an RC here who I found out lives in Bangkhae, one of my old areas, and not only that, but he was there (not yet baptized) in January when I was there as well! On the exact same street as the elders house even! Small world!!!!!
Friday, we tried to find the LA member from earlier but once again they were not at home, but we did find a way cool guy who wanted us to teach him about Christianity. So he's sick. We are going back Saturday too. After that, we met with some way sick guys our age who aren't yet investigators but we are trying to get them to go to church events like English class and sports night. So that they can be! They are so cool. After that, we had lunch with a member who is way awesome and she's going to help us work with some LA members of the ward. We also met with แกว and some friends of his who are FIs quickly before going home. After that, we studied, had some dinner and met with a nice Cambodian LA who learned Thai in like 3 months. She's so cool. After that, we had sports night at the church which was way fun. We met with an LA there, and I got to interview a super awesome lady for baptism! She is so prepared and has a fire testimony! I'm way excited for her!!
Saturday, we met with ผึ้ง and ปลื้ม and continued preparing then for baptism. They are so cool! After that very long lesson, we had in impromptu meeting with the bishop that took another hour or so. So it was a pretty full morning. After that, we said hi to จำรุล real quick, but this week she still can't go to church :( after that we grabbed some lunch with a member. (Making like 4 lunches with members this week) (fun stuff) after that, we studied, met our Christian friend, and then met an RC at the church who is a meteorologist and then had some lunch and met with a way cool member. He is Filipino and married a Thai lady and he served a mission in '86 in the Philippines. His name is manny and he is so cool. He has the biggest smile.
Sunday was the day of meetings! We studied in the morning, picked up and RC for church and then had normal Sunday meetings. Pretty good stuff. Then we had the usual lunch after church as well. Then after that, we had a three hour meeting that was called a special ward council meeting. It was good. What is meant was the whole ward invited and we counseled together on how to help the ward be more unified. We used the comparison of the Thai kids getting out if the caves in Chiang Rai. As a ward how are we going to help people get out if the caves and come into the light. That means those who are less active and those who are not yet members. And every member has a part in it. The missionaries were asked also to share what we think members can do. It was soooo cool. This week we are doing a 7 day fast to help build that unity. It's way good stuff. After that, we met with one if our daters and then had dinner and studied for the reminding hour in the day haha.
This week I would like to talk more about love. Because it's pretty important. One of our daters right now, she found out about the gospel because she met an amazing member who really just had the light of Christ streaming from his body, and she wanted to know why he was so happy. And she will soon be baptized. So for my 2 cents, what I asked the ward to do is to show the love Christ would to everybody. And to pray for charity everyday. So that someone who doesn't know Christ would know Him better because they know you.
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.
I know Christ lives today! I know He loves us, and when we will show His love towards others, we will experience true joy and success in our work whatever it may be.
Have a great week!
