Hello everybody!
This week was the first full week in Bangnaa for me! And what am amazing place to be, this area is so good! I love it so much and I am so glad you be serving in Thailand! It's the best!
Monday we had a pretty สบาย day. Not too much planned, not much to worry about. All we did was go pretty down south to the ocean. We got some good pictures, and then we had a nice seafood lunch. It was a little, ok really on the spendy side, but it was still way good. We kind of just wandered around that part of town for the day haha. After that, we finished up the day with a couple of sick lessons with investigators. We taught a guy named เบน (Ben) and he is way sick. He can't read but he's got some real potential.
Tuesday was a great day as well. The morning was ok. We kind of just ran around town in the morning looking for two investigators that never showed up :/ but we got to tslk to some nice people around town so that was good too. It was good stuff. After that, we had my first district meeting/council as a district leader. It was way fun! I wasn't sure how it would go at first, but it was pretty good, and the spirit was there so that's the important bit!! After that, we just had studies. Then food, and after that we went to teach our 12 yo investigator. It was s little interesting though because the dad called in the middle of the lesson and told us to get out and never come back to his house again. So we ended up having to drop that kid. Sad day. After that, we had a way fun English class, and then we taught some fire investigators! There is a lady named ผึ้ง and her daughter that she brought and they are both sooo fire!
Wednesday, we headed out first thing and taught our security guard friend, แกว. He is so fire. Such a good guy. He loves reading in the scriptures and studying. Yt? He won't come to church. :/ fast forward to Sunday, I was talking to a member about him, (and this member has been a members for a while now) she said he hasn't felt the influence of the Holy Ghost in such a way that he desires to change. He likes just reading and studying and it's all good and stuff, but he's not changing. She said, the water is up at his nose, and he doesn't know that he needs to swim, much less how to. It gave me some good food for thought about how we need to help people feel the holy ghost because that's the important bit. After that, we met with a cool investigator and a way sick member, and then a member brought us around to go and teach a crazy LA dude. Literally crazy though haha. Like he doesn't like taking his crazy pills crazy haha. It was interesting.
Thursday we were inside alot of the day. The morning was good though. We had to drop an investigator that said he didn't want to he baptized anymore.... :( but then we had s fire lesson with one of out daters and the bishop! Our bishop here is so awesome!!! Then we has lunch and studied and weekly planned. I had some serious cabin fever haha. After that we taught some investigators. I have never taught so many part member families as I have here. It is so legit.
Friday was pretty good. We studied and then headed our to go and teach. Then the first guy didn't show up sadly. But we met a cool Cambodian guy that said would come to church. So that's cool. Then we spent the morning looking for investigators from thr other elders area before it got closed down. Met lots of people, talked with lots of people, but not really anyone was interested :/ dang. Then we studied and had lunch, and more ผิดนัดs and then we had dinner and a fun sports night at the church. It was good stuff.
Saturday we had a pretty busy day. We had studies, visiting investigators all morning and members and such. Talking with everybody, people being impressed by the Thai and Lao we speak, just the norm haha. Good stuff. No new investigators though:/ then I had an interview for baptism with the cutest little girl and she is so sick!! After that, we visited with a member and studies and finished the night talking with เบน from earlier in the week. He decided he would be Buddhist and stay Buddhist. He doesn't want to be baptized or learn anymore. Sad day.
Sunday was a pretty good day. Studies in the morning, picking up RCs for church and a great church service. Then we had our classes and all that good stuff. We ended up staying st the church for such a long time though. I asked the bishops wife about her conversion story and just like that I was there for an hour listening haha.. but it was good. We then visited an RC and next we are going to teach her cousin, and then we had dinner and that was the week!
My spiritual thought comes from Sister ก๊อง (Gong) a remember here. She is so awesome. Been a member for 40 years. And she is the one who told me about how important the spirit is. I'll review what she said. Basically she said thst until we realize that we are in water up to our nose and we can't breath, and we need to learn to swim, that's when we really learn to swim. Same with the spirit. Until we understand how important church is, and how we need to repent and read scriptures and all that stuff because we are up to our nose in sin, we won't change. And who tells us to change? The Holy Ghost. He is sooo important we we shouldn't go a day without seeking his influence. As she said this I just felt the spirit so strongly and i know what she said is true!!!
3 Nephi 11:3
nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn.
I know Christ lives and loves us!! Through him we can find true joy and peace!!
Have a great week
