Hello everybody!
This week was another great one here in Thailand!
Monday was a pretty good day, pretty back and not much to really worry about which is way nice. We just cleaned the house in the morning, and then we played frisbee with the elders in the district in the afternoon. Which turned out to be sooo hot, so it didn't really last very long.. anyways, after that, we met up with the sisters and intended to go to this tower that's way tall and has a fruit buffet at the top, but that didn't happen :( it turns out it closes right as we showed, up and then opens two hours later. So sad... but it's ok, we made up for it by going and eating ice cream at a nap nearby. It was fun. The finish out the evening, we got some good ol office work done, taught (and dropped) :( an investigator and then finished up the night with more office work.
Tuesday, well, was a Tuesday. We studied in the morning, followed by lunch, and then office work, then district meeting. After that, we had a ผิดนัด in the afternoon with an RC which resulted in a couple of hours inviting. Good times though. We also fixed a phone, and by fix I mean took it to a guy who said it was broken beyond repair and so we just bought a new one. After that, we had a fire fun English class, and met with 3 new investigators afterwards! It was way fire!
Wednesday, we had a fun full day of errands! Hooray for office work! This morning, we intended to study at the office until we had to leave but we never even got to finish. So darn. What happened today was we got to go to the Thailand DMV equivalent and got the president Johnson's car checked out. So yes. We drove his car, and let me tell ya President has some fire CDs to play in there. Gotta love gentri. So we drove through some serious traffic there, got stuff checked out, and then drove to a market nearby for lunch. After that, and a couple bumps and scratched, we made it home to the office! And then spent the next hour or so trying to find plane tickets for a senior couple whose kids were trying to lesve the country to go home. It was a little crazy though... After that, we had a straight fire lesson with an RC at the church who has already been to the temple. She is sooo good! Then we grabbed some dinner and met with some other investies who pretty much dropped themselves. But a good day all in all.
Thursday, we had a pretty great day. We studied in the morning, and then we met s super nice member for lunch. While we were there we ran into an RM from Thailand who actually lives in our ward with her husband (both are white and RMs from Thailand) they're in school and working. So that was a fun little visit. The member that we intended to meet with is soo nice and we are encouraging her to share the gospel with her friends. After that, we headed back to the office for weekly planning and interviews with President. And President Johnson is really one of the best people I've ever met. It was so good. After that, we had a quick appointment with an RC, and then lots of calls, and dinner and visiting a couple more investigators. Typical evening stuff.
Friday, we studied in the morning, and got to the office around noonish to find that our appointment over lunch with a member was cancelled because he decided to have a day off from work today... So sad. After a little bit more inviting, and a couple other ผิดนัดs, we headed to the church for correlation. And after that, we went to go and teach our best investigator and her son! They are so awesome. But, it was an interesting lesson. We began teaching, but they live in downtown, where it can get a little sketch at night. So we started the lesson, and pretty soon, we had two crazy homeless and obviously drugged up dudes bothering us. So we shooed them away, and walked Sister ฝน and her son home, and headed back.
Saturday was alright. Nothing too crazy exciting, except finding two new investigators in the morning! It was pretty cool. Then we met with an LA who is super nice, and we are trying to bring his family to church as well. He is just awesome. After that, we headed back to the office to get some studies done, and work in there, as well as lunch. All the normal stuff. After that, we had a fun little appointment with a semi senile and old RC. But she has a goal to go to the temple now! So that's way good! Then we headed over to eat food at a members house, and ran back through pouring rain to meet with a fire RC. She is so awesome. We were also interrupted in that lesson. This time with fireworks.
Sunday was so awesome! We did some planning and studies in the morning, and then headed to the church to meet an LA that actually never showed up to meet with us... After that, we had sacrament meeting which was bitter sweet. Because, at first, I thought that no one came. But by the end, I saw Sister ฝน and her son! It was so gooood! They are the first investigators I've had come to the Thai ward (I was in international before as well) since I've been in Asoke! I was so happy! After a couple good lessons, and some talking with members, we had a great lesson with Sister ฝน and her son, and they are both on date for the 24th of June!!! We are so excited! It will be so cool! Then we had some dinner, and visited a couple more investies, and then worked some in the office again.
My spiritual thought this week comes from Elder Holland's talk, Tomorrow the Lords will do Wonders among you. It is a fantastic talk. In the mission recently, we have been talking about desire alot recently. And I've seen in other missionaries, and in everyone around me, that what we thing eventually becomes what we do. So we need to think about what we truly desire. Elder Holland says:
When there was a controversy in the early Church regarding who was entitled to heaven’s blessings and who wasn’t, the Lord declared to the Prophet Joseph Smith, “Verily I say unto you, [the gifts of God] are given for the benefit of those who love me and keep … my commandments, and [for them] that seeketh so to do.”6 Boy, aren’t we all thankful forthat added provision “and … seeketh so to do”! That has been a lifesaverbecause sometimes that is all we can offer! We take some solace in the fact that if God were to reward only the perfectly faithful, He wouldn’t have much of a distribution list.
So we need to make sure that our desires are in line with what is right, and God promises that he will help us in those desires. Alma also adds:
27 But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties,even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise aparticle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than adesire tobelieve, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe ina manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.
I know as we seek to do what is right, we will do those things that Heavenly Father wants us to do, and help us be better. I know Christ lives and loves us, and stands at the door!
