Hello everybody!!
So this week was transfers which means Pday was actually on Wednesday, and Monday was a normal day for missionary work, which was really weird to be honest, but it was a great week as usual! If a little weird...
Monday, we had alot of people cancel on us. We also had a very intense discussion with a very Buddhist aunt and trying to get her niece who lives with her baptized. It's been a super big struggle, and her niece actually left in tears a couple times in the lesson because of how much she wants to be baptized, and the aunt is really against it. We left that lesson very sad, and expecting the worst. We found out later that night that a sister in the ward actually went and talked to the aunt, while getting her hair cut, and convinced her to let her niece be baptized. She was a miracle worker. Sacrificing hair to help out investigator be baptized. :) Also we taught a lady who we had literally invited 15 minutes before. She just walked to the church, and the sisters called us and said someone showed up expecting us to teach them. So we got there, and there that lady was. She was crazy, fell asleep twice in the lesson, and answered a phone call, and spoke maybe 3 words to us. You really meet the crazy people in Bangkok.
Tuesday, we visited said niece, and aunt, and all went way better. The Lord really works in mysterious ways to get people to baptism, sometimes all you need is a haircut haha. It was super awesome. After that, we had district meeting, and talked about how to be a stronger district and things like that. Alot of good things, and a little long of a meeting but it's all good. After that, we taught one of our investigators named พลาย. He has had a history of smoking, and so we taught the word of wisdom, and challenged him to quit. And so he told us he would finish his last pack, and then never smoke again. And after he finished it, I can tell you a week later that he hasn't smoked since!!! It is so awesome. He's way good.
Wednesday, we had PDAY! And what a pday it was. We went to a local amusement park, and rode roller coasters, and other rides, and it was tons of fun!! We had so much fun, and it was no SilverWood, or Disney Land, but still we all had a great time. Also, I did a drop for the first time. Peer pressure is real people. Although, if Brother Stop wasn't there to face his fears with me I wouldn't have done it for sure, so kudos to him for doing it with me haha.
12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
Thursday, we had transfers, so Elder Bunker and I were up real early and got over to the mission office to meet Elder V. Since our zone leader would not have a companion for the day however, we would not spend the day with Elder V until Friday. So we just brought his stuff back to the apartment, and started out our day as normal. We studied first, and then went out and got cancelled on, and again, and so we came back to weekly plan sooner than we had expected. Then we had an appointment at the church, but we got there, and got cancelled on. So we just started calling people. We called one guy who ended up coming to see us, and we had a great lesson with him, giving him a soft date for the 29 of Nov. Then he left and we called people for an hour, and no one showed up :/ Welcome to dome days of mission life I guess. It's ok though, because we finished out the day with our way good investigator named เป้, and progressing real well.
Friday, we had our first full day of being a trio. It's way fun. Let me tell you, with 3 missionaries walking down the street, there isn't anybody coming the other way without being invited haha. It's good times. We had our interview with our little 10 year old who we've worked so hard to get baptized, and she is finally going to be baptized on next Sunday! It's way exciting, and we are all super pumped. After that we had sports night at the church, which is always way fun. The members here are great.
Saturday, we had a very quick and spiritual lesson with an investigator who thus far has just been learning just to learn. But we challenged her to sincerely read and pray, instead of just learn all these facts about our church. Then she told us that she would do that this week, and actually try to learn the truth of the message. It was way good. I'm excited to see how things turn out in next week's visit. After that, it was a pretty normal day, cancelled appointments, visiting randon people, and inviting everywhere. Good times. Also, you know you're in Bangkok when you see a man walking down the street in nothing but a T-shirt, and a diaper.
Sunday was great!! Elder Bunker and Sister Coleman gave some fire talks in sacrament meeting. They both spoke about member missionary work, and faith. We had some good classes today too. I translated Sunday school for a chinese guy whom we invited, and spoke only Mandarin, and English. It was an interesting lesson. He was super inpressed since I've been speaking Thai for like 2 months here, and so he thought my abilities were nothign short of a miracle, and they are, but boy do I still feel inadequate. This language is way hard, but it's coming, slowly.
After that, we had a great fireside on family history, in preperation for the temple to come to Bangkok. Then, we had a great lesson, and FHE at a member's house, and it was way good fun. Bangkok Thailand is the place to be!!!
Spiritual thought for this week, is Helaman 5:12. We talked alot about faith in church, and how it is a power, and a foundation for men's souls. Do not ever stop fanning the flame of your faith!! Sometimes it's hard to believe. It may seem weird, or strange, but I testify that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us, and a Savior who has atoned for our sins IN FULL. I know that if we will but reach out and trust God, he can work miracles in our lives.
