Saweedii khab khrobbhrua l3? phxan,
Life here at the MTC is great!! I've really enjoyed my time here so far. It's definitely been one of the longest weeks of my life, if not the longest, but pretty awesome as well.
So I got in the classroom Wednesday and the teacher only spoke Thai for about the first 2 hours. My district used the translations on the board to some of the words he used, and got really good at charades. Interpretive dance is a good way to communicate when you have no idea how to speak the language. There was lots of hand motions going on.
Thursday was the longest ever. Lots of class time, and studying. It's good though. We literally have a full time job (40+ hours a week literally) studying the language. It's good though, we need all the help we can get haha. But the gift of tongues is soooo real. We've taught 3 lessons to an investigator already and we've been exposed to the language for a solid 5 days. How awesome is that??
The weekend went slow, but the pace here is steadily starting to pick up and time will begin to fly here in a bit. My companion is from Richland!!! If anyone sees Mr. Simm tell him Nathan McDonald from his ward is my companion!
Sunday was great. We met for our normal meetings, and the spirit was really strong. There's something about being a missionary that is just so spiritually uplifting, it's great. That evening, we had a devotional from President Thurston who was the mission president of the Fortworth Texas mission from 2007-10. He talked about how to be an effective missionary, and it was really instructive. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
My district is the best ever!!! We're a bunch of goofball morons, but we sure know how to have fun!! It's fantastic! Elder Borg, and Elder Jorgenson and I are the best 3 on 3 basketball team around, we won 5 straight games and only lost the 6th because we were so tired, so that's sweet. Also, Elder Byers and I are driving our roommates absolutely nuts by talking in a southern hick accent all the time. We've been threatened with being forced to sleep in the hall lol. It's TONS of fun, the MTC is the best.
Spiritual thought of the week. The gift of tongues is so real. We taught Faa our investigor last night for the 3rd time. We taught her about prophets in broken but basically fluent Thai. We could answer her questions and understand what she was saying!!! It's sooo awesome! The Lord will reward you for your diligence for sure. Just do your best, and he makes up the difference. The gospel is true, I know it with all my heart!! I am excited to hear from a general authority tonight.
Have a great week everyone!!
Choog dii,
Elder Ellsworth
